ENTRY #41 is a text-and-video installation produced by NAPE Records for the exhibition ‘The Year 2525’ (www.OneArmedMan.be – 09/2014 @ ‘t Groen Kwartier, Antwerp).
Text sources range from the work of metaphysical sci-fi author Philip K. Dick (in particular his novel VALIS), to the political speeches of president Richard Nixon and the Sophia of Jesus Christ, a Gnostic manuscript from the 3rd and 4rd century. McENROES devised a soundtrack inspired by Sonic Youth’s seminal album ‘Sister’. Stripping it down to the essentials, they improvised a number of jams on musical themes from the album, and mixed these into a ten-minute soundscape. On this release you’ll find downmixed versions of the separate improvs as well as the finished collage.
The short movie shows the process of a tormented writer battling a writer’s block cum mental breakdown. A parallel text projection reveals his inner thoughts. You can watch the video in its entirety on Youtube:
